The short version
We collect no data about you. Split & Settle has no account, no analytics, no ads and no tracking — in the app or on this website. Your bills live on your iPhone and, if you choose, in your own iCloud, which we can’t see.
This policy covers the Split & Settle iPhone app and the website at www.splitsettleapp.com, both provided by Jaceal LLC (“we”, “us”).
What we collect
Nothing. We don’t run servers that receive your bills, receipts, names, contacts, location or usage data. There is no sign-up and no account. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, and we don’t sell or share data, because we don’t have any.
Where your bills are stored
Bills, receipt photos, people’s names and everything else you enter are stored on your iPhone.
If you turn on iCloud, that data is also stored in your own iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. It’s tied to your Apple Account and governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policy. We, the developer, cannot see or access it.
You can back up your bills to a file and restore them at any time. Deleting the app removes the data stored on your phone; data in your iCloud can be managed in your iPhone’s iCloud settings.
Shared bills and trips
When you share a bill or a trip, it is shared through iCloud only with the people you invite. They can see and edit what you share with them. You can stop sharing at any time. If you send a snapshot copy or the split picture instead, it goes wherever you send it — for example, a message thread you choose.
Camera and photos
Split & Settle asks for camera or photo library access only so you can photograph or choose a receipt. Receipts are read entirely on your iPhone — the images and the text read from them are never uploaded to us.
Network requests the app makes
The app connects to the internet only for these purposes:
- Currency exchange rates from public rate services (api.frankfurter.app and open.er-api.com). These requests contain only the currencies being looked up — no personal data.
- Restaurant search with Apple Maps, when you look up a restaurant to fill in the local sales tax rate. This search is handled by Apple, and Apple’s privacy policy applies.
- An App Store lookup, to check app information. No personal data is sent.
- iCloud, if you turn it on, to sync and share your bills through Apple’s CloudKit.
Purchases
Split & Settle Pro is an in-app purchase processed by Apple. We don’t receive your payment details. Apple tells the app whether Pro is unlocked; that’s all.
Payment-app links
When you request money with a Venmo, Cash App or PayPal link, Split & Settle simply opens that app or website with the amount filled in. Anything that happens there is between you and that service, under its own privacy policy. We never see or handle the payment.
This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ads or trackers. It’s hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver and protect the site. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. To check whether the app is available, the site makes an anonymous request to Apple’s App Store lookup service.
Children
Split & Settle isn’t directed to children under 13, and because we collect no personal information, we don’t knowingly collect any from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the effective date above. If a change ever meant collecting data, we’d say so clearly in the app before it happened.
